Euro 2020 to begin in Rome

The first match of Euro 2020 will be hosted in Rome at the Stadio Olimpico, UEFA has confirmed.

For the 60th anniversary of the tournament, matches will be held across the continent at several different stadiums.

Today UEFA has announced that the opening match will be played at the Olimpico, with the Group A matches to be paired between Rome and Baku.

Each qualified host country will play a minimum of two games at home.

The Eurostadium in Brussels was due to host four group matches and one Last 16 game, but it won’t be ready in time so those matches have been reassigned to Wembley Stadium in London.

The Olimpico will also host one of the Quarter-Finals.

The other venues for the tournament are the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany; the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan; the Krestovsky Stadium in St Petersburg, Russia; the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Parken Stadium in Cophenhagen, Denmark; Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland; the Ferenc Puskás Stadium in Budapest, Hungary; the San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain; the Aviva Stadium in Dublic, Republic of Ireland and Arena Națională in Bucharest, Romania.

The semi-finals and the final will be at Wembley.
