Medhi Benatia was pleased to score against his former teammates, as “Roma are one of our rivals for the Scudetto” and Juventus continue their march.
He got the only goal of the game, bundling over the line at the third attempt after a save on Giorgio Chiellini and ricochet off the bar.
“I am pleased, because Roma are doing well and are one of our rivals for the Scudetto. Scoring against my former teammates is pleasing, though of course I have friends there who I care about and my family was in the stadium tonight,” the defender told Mediaset Premium.
“We could’ve had a second or third goal, but we only ran a risk at the end with my error. The ball bobbled, Chiellini wanted me to hoof it clear, and he was right, but fortunately Wojciech Szczesny made a great save.”
As Inter and Roma lost this weekend, Juventus and Napoli break away at the top.
“Since the start of the season, we have been working to continue our winning streak in Italy. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a complicated start, but we are on the right track. With this attitude, we can go far.”
