EDF: Roma not ready, Schick…
Eusebio Di Francesco admits Roma are not ready to fight for the Serie A title and has called for patience with Patrik Schick.
Roma have fallen 12 points behind Napoli at the top of the table after two defeats in their last three games, while record signing Schick has yet to score for the Giallorossi in the League.
“We still haven’t made the leap in quality to prove we can fight for the title,” the Coach told reporters.
“We’ve fallen behind, and now we must try to do our best to improve our situation in the standings.
“We’ve been hurt, but we can recover in our next match and we all want to get back on track.
“Until 20 days ago, we were considered a revelation and we’d done very well in the Champions League.
“We’re not the team that played in the first half against Atalanta. We’ll work in a very positive manner.
“We must have balance, and I must be the first to bring the team back to the levels of some time ago.
“Schick criticised? I remember when I played at Roma. Tommasi was once escorted out of Trigoria but then became an idol for Roma fans.
“Sometimes we tend to destroy footballers too hastily. We must let them express their potential.
“I believe in 4-3-3, so we’ll go on with this formation. I’ll work on the 4-3-3 and our players’ heads.
“Perhaps the judgments were too flattering, but now they’re too pessimistic. We must find balance.”
