Samp make Roma pay the penalty

Sampdoria intensified the Roma crisis with a surprise 1-0 victory, as Emiliano Viviano saved Alessandro Florenzi’s penalty before a Duvan Zapata winner.

It was a masterclass in goalkeeping at the Stadio Olimpico, as Alisson and Viviano both performed heroics to keep it goalless for 80 minutes.

The most important save was from Viviano on a Florenzi spot-kick in the first half, awarded for Bereszynski’s handling offence.

Alisson was eventually beaten by Duvan Zapata, who snuck up behind Juan Jesus to tap in the Nicola Murru ball across the six-yard box.

It’s a devastating result for Roma, who are now only four points ahead of Sampdoria and fail to make the most of slip-ups this weekend from Lazio and Inter.
