CL: Juve and Roma await draw

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea were beaten 3-0 by Barcelona, so the draw for the Champions League quarter-finals is ready for Friday with Roma and Juventus.

There are three Italian tacticians in the final eight, as Vincenzo Montella saw Sevilla beat Manchester United at Old Trafford to qualify, while Juventus and Roma are led by Max Allegri and Eusebio Di Francesco respectively.

Conte was hoping to join them, but after a 1-1 first leg draw, Chelsea were swept aside 3-0 at Camp Nou this evening by a Leo Messi brace.

Messi also provided the assist for Ousmane Dembele.

Bayern Munich finished the job against Benfica, winning 3-1 in Istanbul to secure a resounding 8-1 aggregate victory.

The teams that go into Friday’s Champions League draw are not seeded and it’s an open draw, so it’s entirely possible for two clubs from the same country to face each other.

This is more than a possibility, because Spain have three sides left in the tournament, Italy and England two each and Germany one.

The quarter-final ties are on April 3-4 with the second legs on April 10-11.
