Ferreyra sorry for ball-boy push

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Facundo Ferreyra has apologised after shoving a Roma ball-boy, while he received a gift from Daniele De Rossi.

During last night’s 1-0 Champions League result at the Stadio Olimpico, Ferreyra was in a rush to get play started again when he shoved a ball-boy so hard that he fell head-first over the advertising board.

This sparked a brawl, as furious Giallorossi players reacted, but Ferreyra only received a yellow card.

“I’m really sorry for what happened,” said Ferreyra in a statement via the official Shakhtar Donetsk Twitter feed.

“That’s football, it was a very emotional moment in the match. There was no evil intent on my part. I hope the boy, Matteo is all right now. I would like to once again convey the words of apology to the boy, his family and the club.”

Roma accepted the apology and the boy in question, named as Matteo Cancellieri, has forgiven Ferreyra too.

He also received a gift from Giallorossi captain De Rossi in the form of a signed jersey.
