Liveblog: France v Italy

Join us for the build-up and action as it happens from Italy’s friendly against France in Nice, as new Coach Roberto Mancini continues to experiment.

It kicks off at the Allianz Riviera Stadium at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Mancini made his debut on Monday in a 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia, with Mario Balotelli and Andrea Belotti on target.

That was Balo’s first Azzurri appearance since the 2014 World Cup and it took him just 21 minutes to find the back of the net.

He’ll be particularly eager to impress tonight, as this stadium has been his home for two years, scoring 43 goals in 66 competitive matches for Nice.

Les Bleus are gearing up for the World Cup and are fresh from a comfortable 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, but rested Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba, using them only as substitutes.

Italy’s most famous meeting with France was the 2006 World Cup Final in Berlin, which saw the Nazionale lift the trophy after a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

The Azzurri have beaten their Alps neighbours 18 times, drawn 10 and lost 10, scoring 81 goals and conceding only 53.

Previous CT Giampiero Ventura made his Italy debut in a 3-1 friendly defeat to L’Equipe in Bari in September 2016.

VAR will be used in this evening’s match, due to an agreement between the Federations.
