Kostas Manolas and Lorenzo Pellegrini have no intention of leaving Roma, even if their release clauses are met, insists Monchi.
The Greek international defender emerged as a prime transfer target for Chelsea, especially if Maurizio Sarri takes over from Antonio Conte.
There are different versions of the clause, but it is believed to be worth around €38m.
“I spoke to Kostas three or four times and he is happy with the team,” director of sport Monchi declared in a Press conference.
“He wants to stay here and I’d say the same for Alisson. I read about Chelsea interest, but I think they are looking elsewhere at the moment.”
The Corriere dello Sport newspaper also backs up this claim, suggesting Manolas would not invite Chelsea to pay the clause.
As for Pellegrini, the 22-year-old midfielder was only purchased from Sassuolo a year ago for €10m, but has a €25m release clause in his contract.
He has been linked with the likes of Juventus and Manchester United.
“I had an appointment with Pellegrini’s agent a week ago and we are relaxed. Manolas and Pellegrini are 100 per cent Roma players,” added Monchi.
