Matteo Politano “can’t wait to get started” after joining Inter. “San Siro brought me luck, as I scored here against both Milan and Inter.”
The Italy international completed his transfer today, on loan for €7m with option to buy from Sassuolo at the end of the season for another €20m.
“Being here is wonderful and it’s a very important day for me,” Politano told Inter TV.
“I am really excited and can’t wait to get started. I thank the Chairman, club, directors and Coach who wanted me here, and I also thank Sassuolo for allowing me to grow and giving me the opportunity to join Inter.
“San Siro is a stadium that gives me goosebumps and in the past it brought me good luck, as I scored here against both Milan and Inter… but now I hope to score here for Inter.”
Politano came up through the Roma youth academy and was asked about his football icons.
“For anyone who grows up in Rome, Francesco Totti is a reference point, but there are so many I like such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and other wide attackers.
“I’ve always been impressed by Mauro Icardi, as he just needs one ball in the box to turn it into a goal. Inter have many quality players and not just him.
“I promise Inter fans that I will always give 100 per cent to honour this jersey.”
