Justin Kluivert says “it’s an honour to wear the Roma shirt” and doesn’t feel the pressure of emulating his father, Patrick.
The winger has joined the Giallorossi from Ajax in a €17.25m deal, with the 19-year-old signing a five-year contract.
“I chose Roma because I wanted a change,” Kluivert explained to Roma TV.
“I’m happy with my choice. I chose Roma after talking with my family, we got a good feeling and I chose the Giallorossi.
“[Kevin] Strootman and [Rick] Karsdorp welcomed me well, it’s nice to have them here to count on. It’s an honour to wear the Roma shirt, especially since not many Dutch players have.”
Kluivert’s father, Patrick, was also a footballer, scoring 122 goals in 257 games for Barcelona.
“Dad had a great career, and it’s not hard for me to relate to him. He encourages me every day and I don’t feel the pressure.
“He talks to me a lot and it’s something I have to listen to, I’m lucky he shares things with me.”
