Kostas Manolas claims he did not know Malcom’s name before the Brazilian forward rejected Roma for Barcelona.
Roma face Barca in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday morning, just three months after they stunned the Catalans to reach the Champions League semi-finals, courtesy of a Manolas winner.
More recently, however, the two clubs were involved in a transfer tug-of-war for Malcom, which saw the attacker initially agree to leave Bordeaux for the Giallorossi, only to end up joining the Blaugrana.
“It was the happiest moment of my career,” the defender said at a Press conference.
“We pulled off a miracle by beating Barcelona 3-0. I hope that tomorrow, we’ll be able to put in a good performance.
“What matters is showing whether we’ve learned the things we’ve been doing in training. It will be a good workout tomorrow.
“I have no right to say who we should or shouldn’t sign. The sporting director and Coach are taking care of it.
“The Malcom situation? He made his decision. If he didn’t want to join Roma, it’s better that he went to Barcelona. He can continue his career there.
“Will I greet him? No, I didn’t know him before, not even his name. There’s no reason to say ‘hello’ to him.”
