Maria Sensi, the wife of legendary Roma President Franco, has passed away at the age of 75.
Her husband bought the Giallorossi in 1983, and under his stewardship the capital club won the Scudetto and two Coppe Italia.
He was President up until his death in 2008, whereupon daughter Rosella took over the running of the club before selling to James Pallotta in 2012.
Tonight Rosella has announced via Facebook that her mother has passed away, calling her “a great woman, a wonderful wife and a unique mother”.
“Jim Pallotta and everyone at the club is saddened to hear of the death of Maria Sensi,” a statement from Roma reads.
“Our deepest condolences go out to her loved ones at this difficult time.”
Club legend Francesco Totti wrote on Twitter that he’d “always carry in my heart a great woman like Maria Sensi”.
Porterò sempre nel cuore il ricordo di una grande donna come Maria. Un pensiero speciale a tutta la famiglia Sensi.
