Inzaghi: ‘Lazio wary of Eintracht’

Simone Inzaghi warns Eintracht Frankfurt are tout Europa League opponents as Lazio’s main issue is “ensuring we put the derby behind us.”

It kicks off on Thursday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

This comes just days after a painful Derby della Capitale defeat to arch rivals Roma.

“We will certainly need a performance of determination and character,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We are up against a team that is physically strong and organised, with extraordinary fans. Their arena will be packed to the rafters. We’ll have our fans there too.

“My main issue right now is ensuring we put the derby behind us. When I analyse a performance, I always look at the pros and cons. We didn’t lose to Roma on a tactical level, but on three set plays.

“It’s true I did not appreciate our attitude, even if I am the main one responsible for that, but the teams had a good look at themselves and know where they have to improve.

“We are all angry, because we all know what it means to win a derby in Rome. We had five consecutive victories until then, so we have to leave this setback behind us as quickly as possible, even if that will be difficult.”

Lazio have a very important Serie A match coming up against Fiorentina, but Inzaghi warns against excessive squad rotation.

“We’ll think about Fiorentina from Friday. I believe choices should be based more on recovering players who aren’t 100 per cent fit rather than looking ahead to the next match.

“Eintracht are not to be taken lightly, as they won the German Cup last season. They are well-organise and have a Coach who knows what he wants from his players. They have stars like Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic who can cause problems for the opposition.

“We won our Europa League group last term, but that was a far simpler draw and we were unlucky this time.”
