Nicolas Burdisso admits “I hope to return to work at Roma one day” after announcing his retirement.
The centre-back has hung up his boots after a 19 year career spent largely in Italy with the Giallorossi, Inter, Genoa and Torino.
“Thanks to everyone for all the messages,” Burdisso began, speaking to Rete Sport.
“I had five beautiful years at Roma and it remains one of the best and most intense experiences of my life.
“I had so many joyful days, but also a lot of painful ones because I suffered a serious injury. I experienced everything in a Roma shirt.
“Those years remain beautiful, and Roma was perhaps the best period of my career, because I arrived at peak mental and physical maturity.
“I hope to return to work at Roma one day, I feel a connection to the way the city lives for football. It’d be an even more beautiful challenge to help Roma win something in Italy and Europe.
“Forza Roma, always.”
