The Sunday Express claim that Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea have joined the race for Genoa’s Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek.
The 23-year-old has scored 14 goals in 10 games this season for club and country.
He has been unstoppable since moving to Genoa for just €4.5m and his price-tag is now closer to €50m.
Piatek – pronounced Pyontek – is the first player since Christian Vieri at Inter in 2002-03 to score in each of the opening seven Serie A rounds.
According to the English newspaper, Sarri has urged Chelsea to go for the centre-forward in January as a replacement for misfiring Alvaro Morata.
However, there is a lot of competition, because Piatek is also of interest to Juventus, Barcelona, Inter, Arsenal, Roma, Bayern Munich and Napoli.
