Cagliari midfielder Nicolò Barella is “proud” to be of interest to so many top clubs after his senior Italy debut. “I never hold back in a tackle.”
The 21-year-old was one of the most impressive players in the 1-1 friendly draw with Ukraine and 1-0 Nations League victory in Poland.
“If I reached the Nazionale, it is down to my teammates who allowed me to give my best. I want to thank all of them, both those at Cagliari and on international duty,” Barella told Sky Sport Italia.
He has been linked with numerous clubs for next summer, including Inter, Milan, Juventus, Roma and Liverpool.
“The interest of big teams makes me proud, because it means I am doing well. For now I’m not thinking about the transfer market, as there are agents, directors and clubs for that.”
Barella already has 73 Serie A appearances under his belt, scoring seven goals, after coming up through the academy of hometown club Cagliari.
“I had to grow up early. I never hold back in a tackle, and if there is a challenge to be made, I don’t make qualms about it. That’s just what I’m like.”
