Dries Mertens scored the late equaliser against Roma, but the Napoli striker was furious. “It’s a real shame, we had so many chances.”
The Partenopei went behind early doors to a Stephan El Shaarawy effort and then dominated the rest of the match, but only scraped a late 1-1 draw through Mertens.
“It’s a pity, as today we could’ve picked up three important points and it’s just one,” the visibly disheartened Belgian told Sky Sport Italia.
“It’s true we played well, but we should’ve done more. We had so many chances, Roma were very defensive and did it well, but I don’t know how many shots we had on target today.
“It’s a real shame.”
Mertens came off the bench to replace Arkadiusz Milik and that didn’t help his mood.
“Of course I wanted to play from the start. You know what it means for Napoli to play against Roma and I really wanted to play.”
