Roma consider Montella return?

Roma could turn to Vincenzo Montella if they sack Eusebio Di Francesco, as Paulo Sousa is close to Southampton.

The Giallorossi qualified for the Last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday, but they lost to Real Madrid and were whistled after the match.

Di Francesco is believed to be under pressure, and faces a crucial match with Inter on Sunday night.

Sousa has publicly admitted his interest in the job, but he appears to be in like to replace Mark Hughes at Southampton.

As a result, reports CalcioNews24, Montella’s name has come up as a potential replacement, ahead of Roberto Donadoni and Antonio Conte, the latter of whom would probably be too expensive.

The former striker won the Scudetto with the Lupi in 2001, and is a free agent after being sacked by Sevilla.

Montella began his coaching career with Roma, taking charge of 16 games as caretaker in 2011.
