Marco Sau said Cagliari’s recovery from 2-0 behind to draw 2-2 with Roma when down to nine men was “an impossible game.”
The 31-year-old came off the bench and scored with the last kick of the extraordinary game.
“We recovered what seemed like an impossible game. It’s a huge result and really boosts our confidence, as we can extend the unbeaten run and got a point against a great team,” Sau told Sky Sport Italia.
“We’ve had comebacks before and shown we never give up. I didn’t understand why the referee sent off two players, but it’s in the past now and there’s not much we can do about it.
“I want to dedicate this goal to my former Cagliari teammate, Davide Astori.”
