Roma and Lazio ultras bring shame

It has been a terrible 24 hours in the Capital, as after Lazio ultras clashed with police, Roma fans circulated Anti-Semitic posters.

The issue of violence and racism in football reared its ugly head again with particular focus on the Eternal City.

Last night, Lazio fans gathered to celebrate the 119th anniversary of the club’s foundation, but there were clashes that left at least 10 police injured.

Of the 2,500 who attended the event, including President Claudio Lotito, 300 masked ultras broke away and attacked the police by throwing bottles, rocks and other objects.

Not to be outdone, Roma ultras brought shame to Calcio today by putting up anti-Semitic posters around the city.

The motto stated that Lazio, Napoli and Israel had “the same colours, flags and are the same” insulting term.

It comes a year after Lazio ultras were roundly condemned for posting Anti-Semitic stickers depicting Holocaust victim Anne Frank in a Roma jersey.
