Arsenal have reportedly spoken to Nicolo Zaniolo’s agent, but Roma remain determined to lock down the attacking midfielder.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira, Arsenal chiefs Unai Emery and Raul Sanllehi have reached out to Claudio Vigorelli, who represents Zaniolo.
The Gunners would be interested in signing the 19-year-old for next season, but Schira agrees with Gazzetta’s previous report that Roma want to extend his contract until 2024.
The left-footed ace has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign since arriving from Inter in exchange for Radja Nainggolan last summer, scoring his first goal – a lob that drew comparisons with Francesco Totti – on Boxing Day.
He also became only the fourth player to ever earn an Italy call-up before making his Serie A debut in September.
