Arsenal’s first choice for new sporting director is Roma chief Monchi, according to The Independent newspaper.
The Premier League club is seeking a replacement for Sven Mislintat, who will leave just a year after he was appointed head of recruitment.
There are several options to take over and The Independent claims Monchi is the prime candidate.
Roma have no intention of letting former Sevilla director Monchi go, as he was quite a coup when signing for the Serie A side in April 2017.
Some of his decisions have not always pleased Giallorossi fans, but the club is leaving Financial Fair Play parameters soon and can afford to keep some of their star men for a little longer.
The link comes after Arsenal also set their sights on Cengiz Under, the Turkey international who was one of Monchi’s first signings for Roma.
