Milan have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Porto and Mexico midfielder Hector Herrera.
According to Sport Mediaset, Milan have taken a ‘significant leap forward’ for Herrera as they are ‘working to find an agreement’ with his agent Gabriel Moraes.
The 28-year-old would appeal to the Rossoneri as his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, while their problems in midfield have been well-documented.
Inter and Roma both appeared to be leading the race for Herrera, but the broadcaster believes the Diavolo can capitalise on their rivals’ uncertainty at boardroom level.
The Porto captain has made 35 appearances so far this season, scoring one goal.
