Roma ultras attack Kolarov again

The row between Roma ultras and Aleksandar Kolarov has clearly not been resolved, as there was an insulting banner as well as chants this evening.

The banner was visible in the Curva Sud during the Champions League Round of 16 fixture against FC Porto.

This all started on the way to the 7-1 Coppa Italia defeat to Fiorentina, as the team was heckled at the train station by fans and Kolarov reacted with an insult of his own.

It deteriorated further with comments he made in the media about supporters thinking they knew more about football than they really did.

Offensive graffiti appeared outside his house, including one calling for him to ‘wind your neck in’ and another calling him ‘a Croatian piece of ****’ – even though he is Serbian.

When Roma beat Chievo 3-0 in Serie A at the Bentegodi last week with a Kolarov goal, he turned to the away fans and gave a deep bow.

Coach Eusebio Di Francesco called it a gesture of reconciliation, but most saw it as deeply sarcastic.

This evening in the Champions League, Kolarov was insulted throughout by his own fans and the large banner appeared in the crowd.
