Wojciech Szczesny took a swipe at Francesco Totti in his appraisal of Juventus teammate Carlo Pinsoglio. “He only played 22 minutes but won as much!”
Pinsoglio is Juve’s third-choice goalkeeper and played just 27 minutes of first-team football last season in Juve’s final Serie A match, although it was enough to be awarded a new contract.
“Our squad is strong and complete in every department, even among the so-called reserves,” Szczesny told Foot Truck.
“Pinsoglio? He’s a good lad, he improves the atmosphere in the dressing room. I always fool around with him.
“He only played 22 minutes last season but won as much as Francesco Totti. I always crack this joke.”
The Pole then named his ideal XI, which included five Juve teammates and former colleague Gianluigi Buffon, plus Joao Cancelo on the substitutes’ bench.
Szczesny’s ideal XI: Buffon; Piszczek, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Pjanic, Nainggolan, Cazorla; Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Henry
Szczesny’s subs: Alisson, Glik, Cancelo, De Rossi, Salah
