Official: Monchi returns to Sevilla

Former Roma director of sport Monchi has officially returned to Sevilla and will begin work on April 1. “This will always be his home.”

The transfer specialist terminated his contract by mutual consent within 24 hours of the club sacking Coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

He had been expected to join Arsenal and ex-Sevilla boss Unai Emery, but instead the Spaniards confirmed negotiations for a comeback.

The decision was announced this morning and Monchi will hold a presentation Press conference on Monday afternoon at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

The 50-year-old spent his entire playing career at Sevilla as a goalkeeper, then became their director of sport from 2000 to 2017.

His experience at Roma was short-lived and towards the end largely unpopular, as the fans were not as receptive to his sell and renew policy.
