Roma could be set for a revolution at the back this summer, with Alessio Cragno, Gianluca Mancini and Jules Kounde all reportedly targeted.
Roma have conceded 45 goals this season in Serie A alone, and Gazzetta dello Sport claims goalkeeper Robin Olsen is the main player under threat, having come under fire for several poor performances between the sticks.
The newspaper writes Cragno is in driving seat to replace the Swede, with Ajax shot-stopper Andre Onana the Giallorossi’s second choice.
Kostas Manolas would be another possibly leaving, and the 27-year-old has a €36m release clause that is likely to attract several suitors.
The prime candidate to take his place, explains La Gazzetta, is Atalanta’s Gianluca Mancini, with whom ex-sporting director Monchi had already started negotiations.
Atalanta are ready to demand €25m for a player who has already been capped by Italy and has scored six times in 28 games this season, despite being a defender.
Full-back Luca Pellegrini is also expected to return from his loan spell at Cagliari and join the squad next season, with neither Rick Karsdorp or Davide Santon being able to hold down a first-team place.
Meanwhile from France, there is news of interest in Kounde, a 20-year-old defender who plays for Bordeaux and whose price tag is touted to be around the €25m mark.
Kounde has played 45 times across all competitions for Les Girondins this term, while scoring twice.
However, Roma’s relationship with Bordeaux is frosty after the collapse of the Malcolm deal last summer, which saw the Brazilian move to Barcelona after a transfer had been agreed.
