Daniele De Rossi has reportedly decided to leave Boca Juniors and retire completely from football.
The former Roma star has a contract with Boca until June 2020, but Gianluca Di Marzio reports that he will terminate the deal and quit football with immediate effect.
The 36-year-old has struggled with injuries since he signed for the Argentinian side and after only six games, he has been linked with a role back in the Italian capital as Primavera coach at Roma.
Di Marzio claims the 36-year-old has decided to end his stint in South America prematurely.
De Rossi has scored once for Boca since he left Roma last summer. If he decides to hang up his boots, he stops at 622 professional games and is capped 117 times for Italy.
