Torino coach Moreno Longo is ‘proud’ to have kept the Granata in Serie A but wants to see his side ‘enter the pitch to win’ against Bologna on Sunday.
Roma came away with a 3-2 win at the Grande Torino, but Longo praised his player for having ‘kept on fighting’ until the end.
“Our team are alive, we stood up to Roma, kept fighting until the last second and with all the energy we had left,” Longo told Sky Sport Italia. “We will not give up in the last match either. We enter the pitch to win.
The coach revealed that he had left out Simone Edera and Vincenzo Millico because of a ‘disciplinary’ problem but didn’t want to ‘go into detail’.
“It was a disciplinary measure taken. Anyone who knows me, knows that there are situations you can’t get out of.
“You need to respect the club where you work. There’s no need to go into detail, we wash our dirty laundry at home.
“I hope it can be a lesson to understand how we should behave in the world.”
Longo’s future in Turin has not been confirmed, but the coach was proud to have kept the Granata in Serie A this term.
“I’m proud to have achieved an important goal that will allow the club to reschedule,” he confessed. “The club is making assessments. If I’m chosen, my requests must be heard.
“If other decisions are made, I will respect them.”
