Udinese deny Iturbe interest

Udinese director of sport Manuel Gerolin denies interest in Juan Iturbe, but believes Roma transfer guru Monchi is doing a great job.

“Iturbe is not suited to us, because we’re already covered in that area of the park,” Gerolin told Tele Radio Stereo.

“Eusebio Di Francesco already did wonderful work at Sassuolo and now he needs to be tested at a top club. Luciano Spalletti knew how to get the best out of his players, so I think the biggest change at Roma will be in the Coach.

“As for the squad, Monchi is very smart and is building a strong Roma side. We haven’t had negotiations with him recently, but could do in future.

“We are all curious to start the season and see certain teams in action. Juventus are still the team to beat, but many reinforced, such as Milan, while Napoli have a consolidated approach.

“There’s Inter and also Roma, who remain strong.”

Neymar is on the verge of completing a €220m move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.

“Nowadays the figures are really going over the top. It’s a business and has to be respected, but in moral terms I think we’ve gone over the edge.”
