Nainggolan: ‘Nothing to lose’

Radja Nainggolan insists Roma face Barcelona in the Champions League “with no fear. The great thing is we’ve got nothing to lose.”

The Giallorossi earned their place in the quarter-finals by getting the better of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.

“It’s a very difficult match, everyone knows that, but the great thing is we’ve got nothing to lose. We can only try to make our star shine even brighter in Europe,” Nainggolan told Il Tempo newspaper.

“Barcelona are unbeaten, so obviously it’s going to be tough. People think of it as some impossible task and that can become our strength, because they assume we’re beaten and that’s extra motivation.

“We are going there to play open football and with no fear, because we have nothing to lose.”

Before the Camp Nou trip, there is the issue of a Serie A encounter with struggling Bologna on Saturday.

“That too is certainly a difficult match and we had some problems with them in the past. We have to give that our all first, then we can concentrate on Barcelona.

“Hopefully the break for international duty hasn’t affected us, because it’s one game after another now and we’ve got to resume where we left off.”
