Leonardo Spinazzola admits ‘I’ve always had a liking’ for Roma but is calling for patience. “I believe this is year zero.”
Spinazzola joined the Giallorossi on Sunday as part of a swap deal involving Luca Pellegrini, who has replaced his fellow full-back at Juve.
“It’s a great feeling to be here,” he told Roma TV.
“I’ve always had a liking for Roma because they’ve always played good football, plus the city is beautiful. The stadium is beautiful and the fans are very passionate.
“I believe this is year zero for Roma. Like they explained to me, the project involves many young and Italian players.
“This is a starting point. I’m happy to be part of this new era with a new Coach: we’ll put together a great team, I already know 7-8 of the lads from the national team.
“I hope to have a great season, like my recent ones. I’m convinced I did well for Juventus last season, even though I played very little.
“I want to have lots of physical and mental continuity. Then there’s the Euros, which will be very important for most Italian players.
“We’re at a starting point right now, so we’ll see where we get to. We’ll start preseason shortly and then we’ll meet our new Coach.
“First we’ll put together our new squad, then we’ll see what the field says.”
