Petrachi: ‘Coppa important to Roma’

Roma director of sport Gianluca Petrachi noted the importance of the Coppa Italia this season and the future forwards for the club.

The Coppa Italia quarter-final with Juventus kicks off at 19.45 GMT, click here for the line-ups.

“This is a very important match for us, as we said from the start of the season that we wanted to go all the way in the Coppa Italia. The lads know that and are very concentrated,” Petrachi told Rai Sport.

“Edin Dzeko is very important to us and the ban is unfortunately, but Nikola Kalinic is in good shape and I have faith in him. Kalinic is only on loan, so we’ll re-evaluate the situation in June, but there is the idea of getting a young centre-forward to be the future of Roma. It’s still premature to discuss that now.”

The Giallorossi had agreed a deal for Matteo Politano in a straight swap with Leonardo Spinazzola, only for Inter to pull the plug last week.

“I’d prefer not to talk about that anymore. The Spinazzola-Politano deal was done, it was closed. We’ll take more in future about the wide player we want to bring in.”
