Pellegrini: ‘I miss Roma shirt’

Lorenzo Pellegrini has reassured fans about his happiness at Roma, claiming “there’s no better feeling” than pulling on the Giallorossi shirt.

The 23-year-old has played 18 games, contributing one goal and nine assists in Serie A this term, but his performances at the Olimpico have not gone unnoticed.

The Italy international has been linked with a move away from the club despite having a contract until June 2022 with Roma.

A reported release clause of €30m included in the midfielder’s contract has made a new deal with the influential midfielder the top priority for the Giallorossi and now the player has revealed that he is happy at Roma.

During the current lockdown in Italy, Pellegrini has revealed that he misses playing football and wants to put the Roma shirt back on as soon as possible.

“I miss the best feeling of them all,” Pellegrini told Corriere di Roma. “For me, there’s no better feeling than playing with the Roma shirt.”

His performances at Roma earned 12 caps for Italy and he scored his first and only goal for the Azzurri in a 3-1 win against Armenia in the Euro qualifiers last November.

On Twitter, Pellegrini revealed that his best moment last season came in the derby against Lazio and said his goal against the Biancocelesti in the 3-1 win was a “turning point” for him personally.

“The derby is one of the games that I remember with pleasure from last season. We were in the middle of a complicated period and the challenge with Lazio could have been the turning point and in part it was, also for me personally.

“Think about what it means for a boy from Rome, with the whole family being Romanisti, to enter a derby and score in such a difficult moment for the team.”
