Today, a new summit between the Lega, FIGC and the Italian government has been arranged to discuss the clubs’ requests for the resumption of Serie A.
Last night, chaos erupted around the proposed protocol for the provisional restart on June 13 and the group training allowed from Monday.
Reports in Italy suggested a ‘showdown’ against the protocol was initiated by the clubs, who have contested the forced retreat of 15 days upon resumption of collective training.
Many of the clubs aren’t equipped to keep their players in such a retreat and the clubs have asked the governing bodies to work out a different solution, highlighting three important changes ahead of the proposed resumption.
The amendments requested by the clubs in Serie A include ‘no group quarantine in the case of a positive test, abolition of the retreat and no legal liability for the club medics’.
The outcome will most likely be announced after the assembly including the Lega Serie A, the FIGC and the Ministers today.
