Cristante: ‘Punch broke thief’s helmet’

Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante describes the moment he fought off a thief in his car. ‘I punched his helmet so hard, the visor cracked and he fell backwards.’

The incident occurred in Rome on Friday, just days after Samu Castillejo had a similar experience in Milan, when his Rolex was stolen.

“I was stopped at a traffic light in the Prati zone of the city when a man wearing a full motorcycle helmet pushed his head through the car window and tried to rob me,” Cristante told Il Messaggero newspaper.

“It all happened so quickly, perhaps they’d already been following me for a while. As soon as I realised what was happening, I reacted by punching his helmet twice. I did it so hard, the visor cracked and he fell backwards.

“Moments later, his accomplice appeared and came to drag him away.”
