Roma are reportedly in advanced talks over River Plate full-back Gonzalo Ariel Montiel.
TNT Sports reports Roma are on the verge of beating the competition and signing the 24-year-old.
Director Tiago Pinto already wanted the Argentine at Benfica and the Giallorossi have offered €7m for the right-back, who’s deal will expire in June.
The report claims Montiel will leave Buenos Aires and move to the Italian capital after the Copa Libertadores Final at the end of January.
The right-back, who can also operate as a centre-back or right midfielder, was promoted to the first team at River in July 2016.
He has since played 108 games, scored two goals and contributed 13 assists in the process.
