Luis Alberto: ‘More important for Lazio’

Luis Alberto admits the Rome Derby was ‘a bit more important than usual’ for Lazio after he scored twice in the 3-0 triumph.

The Aquile dominated this Derby della Capitale, winning with a Luis Alberto brace and Ciro Immobile opener, as the Giallorossi had only one genuine chance at the 85th minute.

“This season, it was a bit more important than usual, because we weren’t doing as well in Serie A as we wanted,” the Spaniard told Sky Sport Italia.

“The last three or four games have been much better, we improved a great deal, and we confirmed that in the derby. We showed a winning mentality and want to keep this momentum going.

“At times we can play better or worse, but the important thing is to win. We cannot lose our concentration against the smaller clubs, because that is where we’ve dropped points and need to do better. We cannot afford that in Serie A.”

Luis Alberto had joked on Instagram yesterday that the ‘plan’ was to pass it to Immobile for the goal. Change of plan?

“I always want to help the team to win and do as well as possible, whether I am contributing with a goal or assist.”
